Village of Solvay Electric Dept.
PO Box 699
Solvay, NY 13209

Allow 5-7 business days for mailed payments to process. Include your full account number on checks if not using your stub.

Pay in Person

You can pay in person at Village Hall located at 1100 Woods Rd, Solvay, NY 13209. The office accepts cash, check, money order or credit/debit cards for bill payment.

Office hours are Monday-Friday 8:30am-4:30pm, closed on holidays. Payments can be made at the window upon arrival.

Drop Box

For after hours payment, a drop box is located out front of Village Hall. Place your payment and stub in an envelope and deposit into the locked drop box anytime. Payments are collected daily.

Understand Your Electric Bill

When reviewing your monthly electric statement, check that the meter readings and usage align with your household activity for the period. Look for any spikes or drops in usage that seem abnormal.

Your bill shows current electric service and supply charges, any prior balance, total now due, and payment due date. Pay the full amount by the due date to avoid penalties.

Avoid Late Fees

If payment is not received on time, a late fee of 1.5% is applied to any overdue balance on your account. Multiple late payments can negatively impact your account status.

Pay your bill by the due date printed on each monthly statement to avoid late fees consistently. Sign up for reminders to stay on track.

Service Disconnection

Accounts with significant past due balances risk electric service disconnection. To restore service after disconnection, all overdue amounts plus a reconnection fee would need to be paid.

Contact customer service immediately if you anticipate difficulty paying on time to discuss payment plan options and avoid disruption.

Moving or Closing Your Account

If moving within or outside of Solvay, notify the utility at least 3 days before your move date to close or transfer electric service. Provide a forwarding address for your final bill.

Make sure any balance is paid before closing your Village of Solvay electric account. Simply turning off power does not close your account.

Disputing Your Bill

If you find an error on your bill or dispute your electric charges, contact customer service right away before the due date. Billing disputes must be addressed promptly to ensure accurate payment.

Provide copies of disputed bills and documentation supporting your claim. Expect correction before your next billing cycle.

Payment Assistance Programs

If paying your electric bill presents financial hardship, the following assistance programs are available:

  • HEAP (Home Energy Assistance Program) – Helps with heating and electric bills
  • EPIC (Energy Provider Initiatives) – Lowers energy costs for income-eligible customers
  • EAP (Energy Affordability Program) – Offers extended payment plans

Check if you qualify for these or other programs if needing help with electric bills.

Go Paperless

Sign up to receive bills electronically to reduce paper waste and postal mail. Email reminders can also be activated to prevent late payments.

Accessing statements digitally makes it easy to monitor usage and payments in one place. Enable paperless billing via your online account.

Manage Your Account Online

The online customer portal provides convenient account management tools and information:

  • View latest or previous electric bills
  • Set up automatic payments
  • Receive email/text alerts and reminders
