Listen up, blogosphere! I know y’all tech savvy netizens are prolly smilin’ and rollin’ your eyes at this title. A “guide” for payin’ your cable bill in 2023? Sheesh! That’s, like, Internet 101, right? Welp, not for this born analog fossil! I still remember waitin’ 30 whole minutes for one pixelated picture to load on our dinosaur desktop computer So have mercy on me while I walk through how I pay my Buckeye Broadband cable bill each month, a’ight?

See, I’m what the kids call a “Luddite.” UrbDic tells me that means someone who hates or can’t use new technology And lemme tell ya..that descriptor fits me to a T! I still got a flip phone, y’all! Anyways, that’s a whole ‘nother blog post. Back to this Buckeye bill situation…

Why I Got Buckeye Cable in the First Place

Now I know some of ya forward-thinkin’ folks are gonna ask–why do I even have cable TV? Can’t I just, like, stream everything? Well, sure…but that involves learnin’ a whole new skillset. And this stubborn ole dog don’t wanna learn no new tricks!

I grew up watchin’ good ole broadcast TV. Had my favorite shows scheduled out to record on the VCR each week. As I got older, we got basic cable with channels like TNT, USA, Lifetime. The usual suspects. When I bought my house, havin’ cable seemed like the logical next step. Plus, my BFF Shelley swore Buckeye Broadband was the best around. And she hasn’t steered me wrong yet!

So about 5 years back, I called up the Buckeye folks and got myself all signed up. They sent a nice guy named Phil over to install everything, show me the ropes. Real patient fella–he could tell I was clueless! But he took his time and now I feel pretty confident navigatin’ all those crazy channels and my DVR. Baby steps!

Breakin’ Down My Monthly Bill

Now I may be an analog girl livin’ in a digital world, but I do understand the importance of managing expenses and payin’ your bills on time. Especially with the state of the economy lately! Sheesh. So each month when that Buckeye bill comes in, I take some time to review the charges and make sure I get it paid up quick.

Here’s a breakdown of what a typical month’s bill includes for me:

• Service fee: $79.99 – This covers over 200 channels of programming, plus access to Buckeye’s OnDemand library so I can watch shows and movies whenever I want! Nice perk.

• HD service fee: $10.00 – Gotta have my shows in high-def! Regular ol’ standard definition looks straight up blurry to me now that I’m used to HD. No goin’ back!

• DVR service: $10.00 – Well how else am I gonna record my stories?? This handy DVR they gave me holds up to 20 hours of my favorite primetime dramas and reality trash TV.

• Broadcast TV fee: $14.50 – Not sure exactly what this is for, but I think it covers all those basic networks like CBS, NBC, ABC. Fine by me…I do watch a lot of Ellen and Judge Judy!

• Taxes & surcharges: Around $15.00 – The government gotta get their piece of the pie too, ya know?

So as you can see, with all the bells and whistles my bill usually shakes out around $130 a month. A bit spendy, but worth it in my book for the convenience and entertainment I get. I mean, I can’t remember the last time I was bored!!

Time to Pay Up!

Alright, so now that we’ve reviewed the riveting details of my cable package and monthly bill, let’s get to the meat and potatoes of this lil guide–actually payin’ the darn thing!

I’ll be real with y’all…I don’t love partin’ ways with my hard-earned money every month. But them cable shows aren’t gonna watch themselves! And I’d surely be bored outta my mind without ’em. Plus, ain’t no way I’m riskin’ my service gettin’ shut off. Yikes!

So each month I gotta face the music, log in to my Buckeye account, and pay that bill. Used to be I’d write a check and pop it in the mail. But I’ve (slowly) evolved with the times…now I pay online or via the Buckeye app on my iPhone. Did I mention I upgraded to a smartphone last year? Baby steps!!

Payin’ Online

Payin’ my bill on Buckeye’s website is pretty straightforward. I just head to buckeyebroadband.com, click “Pay Bill” up top, and log into my account. From there I can see my outstanding balance, view PDFs of my statements, schedule recurring payments and more.

When it comes time to actually pay, I select the big green “Pay Now” button. This takes me to a secure payment page where I enter my credit card info and the amount I wanna pay. I like that they break it down so you can do a full or partial payment. Then I click submit and I get a confirmation page letting me know the transaction went through. Easy peasy!

One thing I dig is that Buckeye’s site lets me enroll in paperless billing and auto-pay if I want. That’s a nice set-it-and-forget-it option! But this technophobe likes seein’ that paper bill in her mailbox…makes it feel more real to me, ya know? Plus enterin’ my payment info manually each month helps me stay vigilant ’bout my expenses.

Payin’ Via the App

Now, I may be late to the smartphone party, but even I can admit these lil pocket computers are dang convenient! And Buckeye Broadband’s customer app definitely makes payin’ my bill less of a hassle each month. Just a few quick taps and it’s done!

Soon as I downloaded the app from the App Store and logged in with my account creds, it pulled up my outstanding balance automatically. The main screen shows me a snapshot of what I owe, my due date, previous statements, scheduled payments, etc.

When I’m ready to pay, I tap the “Pay Bill” button at the bottom. This takes me to a screen where I can enter my credit card details, same as on the website. I’ll say, enterin’ all those tiny numbers on that lil keyboard is annoying with my fat fingers! But I manage.

After I submit the payment, the app immediately updates my balance. And I get a notification when the transaction finishes processin’ on their end. Pretty slick!

Only downside is if I ever need to reference my past statements or change my stored payment method, I gotta dig through the app’s menus and settings. Gets a lil confusing in there! But so far payin’ my bill is the main thing I use it for.

And for that, it works great! Just a few taps right from my pocket. Who’da thunk?
