Paying your utility bill on time each month is an important responsibility as a homeowner or renter. Emc Cobb makes paying your bill quick and convenient through several options – online, by phone, mobile app, by mail or in person.
I’ll walk through the various ways you can pay your Emc Cobb electric bill, so you understand all the choices available to fit your needs and preferences.
Pay Online
The easiest way for most members to pay their Emc Cobb bill is online through the website. Here are the steps to pay online:
-
If you already have an online account, sign in with your username and password. If you don’t have an account yet, you can quickly set one up.
-
Once logged in you’ll see your current account balance. Click on “Pay Now” to make a payment.
-
Enter the payment amount – you can pay your total balance, make a partial payment, or pay a different amount.
-
Select whether you want to use a bank account credit card or debit card.
-
For bank accounts, you’ll enter your routing and account numbers. For credit/debit cards, provide your card number, expiration date and security code.
-
Review the payment details and submit the payment.
-
You’ll receive a confirmation page and email receipt after paying online.
Paying online is quick, easy, and secure. Emc Cobb does not charge any fees for online payments. You can use a checking account, savings account, or major credit/debit cards.
I always recommend setting up an online account even if you don’t plan to pay online. It allows you to monitor your daily usage, track bills, set up alerts, and more.
Pay via the Mobile App
In addition to the website, Emc Cobb offers a free mobile app for iOS and Android. You can download the app and then log in using your online account username and password.
The app gives you all the same account management tools as the website. You can view your balance, see past bills, check your daily usage, report outages, and of course – make payments.
Making a payment on the app follows the same process – select the pay option, choose your payment amount and method, enter details, review and submit. It’s very user-friendly and easy to navigate.
The mobile app just provides another way to pay on-the-go. I like using the app when I’m out running errands or traveling and realize it’s time to pay my bill. It takes less than a minute to open up the app and make a payment.
Pay by Phone
If you prefer to pay your bill over the phone, Emc Cobb offers a few different options.
You can call their automated payment system at 1-855-730-8714 to make a payment at any time with no convenience fee for residential members only. The automated system will walk you through prompts to enter your account number, payment amount, and card details.
There are also member care representatives available to assist you Monday thru Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM at 770-429-2100. They can take payments over the phone using a bank account or credit/debit card. You’ll just need to provide them the account info.
The last phone option is to call the general customer service line at 770-429-2100 and choose the payment option. You can then use the automated system or speak with a representative.
I prefer using the dedicated payment line at 1-855-730-8714 when I pay by phone because it’s automated, available 24/7, and has no fees. But the choice is yours based on your needs.
Pay by Mail
Paying by mail is easy for anyone who prefers that traditional option. Here’s how to pay your Emc Cobb bill by mail:
-
Have your latest bill handy so you have your account number.
-
Write a check or money order made payable to Emc Cobb for the full or partial payment amount.
-
Print your account number on the check or money order to ensure proper crediting.
-
Send the payment to the address listed on your bill statement. The general mailing address is:
Emc Cobb
Attn: Payments
PO Box 530812
Atlanta, Ga 30353-0812
-
Make sure to mail your payment several days before the due date allow time for delivery and processing. Payments are credited the business day received.
-
No fees or postage is needed for mailed bill payments.
While mailing a paper check is convenient for some, I recommend electronic payments for faster processing without the risk of postal delays. But Emc Cobb does give you options based on your needs.
Pay in Person
If you want to hand-deliver your payment or prefer paying in cash, you can pay your Emc Cobb bill in person at a local office.
There are three Emc Cobb member service centers in the area:
-
Marietta – 3025 Canton Rd, Marietta, GA 30066
-
Woodstock – 8548 Main St, Woodstock, GA 30188
-
Cartersville – 835 N Tennessee St, Cartersville, GA 30120
At the member service centers, you can pay by cash, money order, cashier’s check, personal check, and debit/credit cards. Make sure to have your account number and ID ready.
The service center hours are Monday thru Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM. Payments made in person before the close of business each day are applied same day.
Paying in person gives you a chance to talk through any account issues and get personalized service. Just keep in mind the service centers are only open on weekdays until 5pm. I usually save this option for when I need account help or want to pay with cash.
Payment Arrangements
If you’re unable to pay your full bill amount due to financial hardship or extenuating circumstances, Emc Cobb does offer payment arrangements.
You can set up a payment plan to pay the past due balance over an extended timeframe – usually 2-3 months. This allows you to avoid late fees or disconnection while paying what you can.
Payment plans and extensions need to be set up by speaking with a member care representative. Give them a call at 770-429-2100 to discuss arrangement options.
The key is being proactive and calling before your service is scheduled for disconnection to set up a plan. Don’t wait until after your power is disconnected.
Budget Billing
One other helpful program from Emc Cobb is Budget Billing. This allows you to pay a “fixed” bill amount each month to avoid seasonal spikes.
Your payment stays the same every month based on your average annual usage. At the end of the year, your account is “trued up” – meaning you either get a small credit or owe a bit extra if you used more or less than the monthly average.
Budget Billing prevents your bill from jumping way up in peak summer and winter months. Everything stays steady. To enroll, call Emc Cobb or set it up through your online account.
Avoid Late Fees
I want to emphasize the importance of paying your Emc Cobb bill before the due date each month. Late payments trigger fees and eventually disconnection.
Emc Cobb residential bills are due within 21 days of being issued. If your payment is not processed by the due date, you will be charged a late fee of $10 or 1.5% of the past due amount.
If your account becomes 30 days past due, a disconnection notice is sent. At 60+ days past due, your service will be disconnected if the full past due amount is not paid.
Avoid late fees and service interruptions by paying on time using any of the options in this article – online, phone, mail, app, or in person. Set payment reminders and use Auto Pay if it helps.
Auto Pay
Speaking of Auto Pay, I highly recommend enrolling in Auto Pay to avoid ever paying late. It’s a free service that debits your monthly Emc Cobb bill from your bank account or credit card each month.
Payments are made automatically on your due date, so you don’t have to remember or take action. Auto Pay prevents late payments since it’s handled for you.
You can enroll through your online account under “Settings” or by calling member care. There’s no fee and you can cancel anytime. But it really provides peace of mind that your electric bill is always paid on time.
Final Thoughts
Pay on time each month through your preferred method to avoid late fees. And consider Auto Pay to make bill payment completely hands-free. Reach out to Emc Cobb anytime you need assistance or want to discuss payment arrangements.
