Paying your water bill can feel like a chore, but it doesn’t have to be! As a Hi Desert Water District customer, you have easy and convenient ways to pay your water bill online, over the phone, or in person. In this article, we’ll walk through the different payment options and programs available to make paying your Hi Desert water bill a breeze.
Online Bill Pay
The easiest way to pay your water bill is online through the Hi Desert Water District website. You can set up a secure online account to receive and pay bills electronically
To get started, visit www.hdwd.com and click on the “Pay My Bill” link at the top of the page. From there, you can set up an account by providing your account number name, and email address. Once your account is created you can opt for paperless billing and schedule automatic payments so you never miss a due date.
Paying online allows you to:
- View current and past water bills
- Make a one-time payment on your account
- Set up recurring auto-pay to have payments drafted from your bank account
- Pay multiple water bills at once if you have more than one account
- Receive emailed water bills and payment confirmations instead of paper bills being mailed
Online payments can be made using Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, or an electronic check All online payments are fast and secure, so you can have peace of mind knowing your payment information is protected.
Pay By Phone
If you prefer to speak to a live representative, you can pay your Hi Desert water bill over the phone by calling 760-365-8333. The customer service team is available Monday through Friday from 7:30am to 5:00pm to assist you.
To pay over the phone, just call the number, pick “billing,” and give them your account information. You can use a credit card, debit card, or electronic check to make a payment. It’s quick and easy to pay over the phone, especially if you need to talk to someone in billing about something.
Pay In Person
For customers who want to hand-deliver their payments, Hi Desert Water District has a few in-person payment options:

Front Desk: You can visit the HDWD main office at 55439 29 Palms Hwy in Yucca Valley from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. You can pay with cash, check, money order, or credit/debit card.

Payment Drop Box – A secure payment drop box is located in the parking lot outside the main office. Payments left in the drop box before 5:00pm will be processed the same day.

At these authorized payment centers, you can pay your water bill in person with cash or check. Look for the HDWD payment signs at each business to easily locate the payment window or service counter.
Payment Assistance Programs
If you are having difficulty paying your Hi Desert water bill on time, payment assistance programs are available to help qualified customers. HDWD offers two billing assistance programs for customers facing financial hardship:

Payment Arrangement Plan – This program allows flexible payment plans to spread balances over an agreed timeframe. Payment plans can be set up over the phone or in person.

Bill Assistance Program – Offers a 10% discount to residential customers who meet income eligibility guidelines. You must apply and provide income verification to qualify.

Auto-Pay Instructions & How-to Video
Set-up Auto-Pay for your account by:
- Set up a profile and register your account using your water account information. If you have multiple accounts, you can add them to the My Profile tab.
- Have your water bill and payment information (bank account/routing number or credit card number) handy.
- After setting up your profile, select the Make Payment tab at the top of the screen.
- Select the payment option (credit card or bank account)
- Enter payment information
- Check the box next to After this transaction, use this payment information to automatically debit my account.
- Make a payment for your account balance (the account balance must be zero to begin Auto-Pay, to avoid late charges and/or a disconnect notice).
- Select Submit Payment to finalize the transaction. You will receive a confirmation email. If you have multiple accounts, you will need to toggle Auto Pay on all profiles.
