When paying in person, you can pay by cash, check, money order, credit card or debit card. Make sure to have your PSA bill with you.
Understanding Due Dates, Penalties, and Disconnection
To avoid late fees and service disruption, it’s essential to pay your Lee County PSA bill by the due date printed on your monthly statement.
Here are some key dates and penalties to keep in mind:
-
Due Date: This is the date your payment must be received by to avoid a penalty. I recommend paying a few days early to ensure it arrives on time.
-
10% Late Penalty: If your payment is received after the due date, a 10% penalty will be applied to your account balance.
-
Disconnection Date: If your bill remains unpaid by the 25th of the month following your due date, your water service will be disconnected.
-
Reconnection: To resume service after disconnection, you must pay a $50 delinquent fee plus the past due balance in full.
Setting up autopay or scheduling payment reminders can prevent late payments and service interruption. The PSA does not waive late fees, so be sure to pay on time each month.
What Not to Flush Down Your Toilet
This is an important reminder from the Lee County PSA – only flush toilet paper and human waste down your toilet. Do not flush any other items, even if labeled “flushable.”
Flushing items like wipes, paper towels, feminine products, and other trash can clog your sewer lines and damage PSA equipment. This leads to costly repairs and higher rates for customers.
Stick to the basics – if it’s not toilet paper or human waste, put it in the trash can instead of the toilet. We all appreciate your cooperation on this issue!

Elydale Middle School students from Ms. Christie Gulleys 6th grade science class toured the KVS Water Treatment Plant on Tuesday, May 14. The tour featured stops at the quarry pond where students were amazed by the crystal-clear water and the abundance of shells along the waterline. Students learned how math is used to estimate volume to determine that the KVS quarry holds approximately 1 billion gallons of water, or around 7.5 billion water bottles. They learned how water is treated through a micro-filtration membrane system with a very small pore size, approximately 0.1 micron (hundreds of times smaller than the tip of a sharp pencil), and is very efficient with 99.9% effectiveness. Lee County PSA staff explained the entire treatment process and included demonstrations on bench testing to make sure all water meets or exceeds standards set by the Virginia Department of Health. Displays of the inside of the filter gave students a more visual explanation of the filtering process, along with science demonstrations of how chemical reactions help staff check chlorine levels, pH levels and the turbidity (clearness) of the water.
