Your monthly gas bills show current and previous meter readings so you can track usage month-to-month or year-over-year.

Notice spikes that indicate a leak or habits increasing consumption. Compare usage to weather patterns. Access charts and graphs through your online account to easily monitor trends.

Understand Meter Readings

Dominion Energy Ohio meters track natural gas usage measured in CCFs (hundreds of cubic feet). Meter readings appear on your bill and through your online account.

Smart meters automatically transmit readings to Dominion daily. Traditional meters require monthly manual readings by a Dominion technician. Verify readings make sequential sense.

Submit Meter Reads

If you have a traditional meter, you can submit monthly reads online or by phone if the meter reader can’t access your meter. This prevents estimated bills between actual reads.

Submit reads after the 20th and before the 27th of each month. Include read date. An actual meter read supersedes your submitted read for billing accuracy.

Spot Estimated Reads

If an actual meter reading isn’t obtained, your bill will note the charges are based on an estimated read calculated from historic usage data. This is only temporary.

Provide access for the next month’s meter read to correct your bill. You can also submit the actual read yourself. Don’t pay estimated bills that seem incorrect.

Request Meter Tests

If your gas usage seems unusually high, you can request your meter be tested for accuracy. Complete the Meter Test Request form or call Dominion to schedule.

A technician will test your meter by checking at multiple flow levels. You only pay a meter test charge if results show the meter is properly registering usage.
