Overview of Payment Options for Sonoma/Marin Customers
Recology offers four main payment methods that Sonoma and Marin County customers can utilize
- Online through My Recology account
- By phone
- By mail
- In person at a Recology office
We’ll now explore the specifics of each payment method and the pros and cons of each.
Pay Online Through My Recology
The easiest, fastest way to pay your Recology bill is through the My Recology customer portal at billpay.recologycom To pay online, you’ll need to either login to your existing account or create a new My Recology account. Once logged in, you can
- View your account balance
- Make one-time payments
- Set up recurring automatic payments
- Manage payment methods
- Review payment history
- Update account details
Online payments via My Recology allow you to pay by credit card, debit card, or bank account transfer. Recology does not charge any fees for online bill payment.
Paying online is tremendously convenient – you can pay anytime 24/7! Online payments also process instantly so you don’t have to worry about delays.
Pay by Phone
If you’d rather speak to someone directly, you can call Recology at 1-800-243-0291 to pay your bill over the phone. When paying by phone:
- Have your account number ready
- Select the “pay by phone” menu option
- An agent will assist you in making a payment
You can pay by credit card, debit card, or bank account when paying by phone. Please note Recology does charge a $4.50 fee for phone payments.
Calling in is a good option if you have questions on your bill but still want to make sure payment is processed right away. But online payments are quicker and don’t have a fee.
Pay by Mail
If you still receive a paper statement, you can mail in a check or money order payment each month. To pay by mail:
- Include your payment stub from your Recology bill
- Write a check or obtain a money order for the balance due
- Mail payment to:
Recology Sonoma Marin
P.O. Box 60758
Los Angeles, CA 90060-0758
Mailed payments take 7-10 business days to process after Recology receives it. Mail your payment at least 1 week before the due date to avoid late fees. For bills due very soon, we recommend online or phone payments.
The main benefit of mailed payments is having a physical record your payment was sent. However, mail delivery delays could still result in late fees.
Pay in Person
You can also pay your Recology bill in person at one of their local offices:
-
Santa Rosa Office – 3400 Standish Ave, Monday-Friday 8am-5:30pm
-
Petaluma Office – 220 E D St, Monday-Friday 8am-5pm
-
Novato Recycling Center – 7576 Redwood Blvd, M-F 8am-5pm, Sat 9am-4pm
When paying in person, you can pay by cash, check, credit/debit card. But in-person payments require taking time to visit during office hours.
Online and phone payments allow you to pay anytime without leaving home. But the in-person option is there if needed.
Avoiding Late Fees on Your Recology Bill
To avoid getting hit with late fees, make sure to pay your Recology bill by the due date printed on your statement each month. Here are some tips:
- Mark your due date on your calendar or in your phone
- Pay online or by phone if your bill is due in the next few days
- Set up autopay through your bank account so payments are automated
- Call Recology if you’ll be late and ask about payment plan options
Scheduling payment reminders and using online/phone payment methods are best for preventing late payments. Recology charges a $20 late fee if your payment is even 1 day past due.
Setting Up Autopay Through My Recology
The easiest way to prevent late payments is by enrolling in Recology autopay. With autopay, Recology will automatically charge your payment method each month for the amount due. To set up Recology autopay:
- Login to your My Recology account
- Under “Payments”, select “Add/View Recurring Payments”
- Enter the account you want to debit and the debit date
- Save your autopay settings
Once setup, you won’t have to manually go in and pay each month. Just make sure your autopay account has enough funds on the scheduled debit date. You can cancel or edit your autopay option anytime.
Using Your Bank’s Online Bill Pay
Most banks and credit unions now offer online bill pay directly through their own websites/apps. You can add Recology as a payee and schedule one-time or recurring payments to be sent to Recology.
Paying through your bank provides the same convenience as Recology autopay. But your bank may charge a fee depending on the account – check with them for details.
No matter which option you choose, automated payments take the hassle out of paying your Recology bill each month. Now that you’re familiar with the payment methods Recology offers Sonoma and Marin customers, you can select the right option for your needs. Feel free to contact the Santa Rosa office if you have any other bill payment questions.
