Paying your utility bill on time every month is important to avoid late fees and potential service interruptions. Shawano Municipal Utilities offers several convenient payment options to fit different needs and preferences. In this comprehensive guide, I’ll walk through the various ways you can pay your Shawano Municipal Utilities bill online, by phone automatic bank withdrawals, by mail or in person.

Paying Online

The easiest and most convenient way for most customers is to pay online. Shawano Municipal Utilities offers an online customer portal called MyAccount that allows you to not only pay your bill, but also view usage history, see payment history, update account information, and more.

To get started paying online, you first need to create an account on MyAccount:

  • Go to https://myaccount.cityofshawano.com/
  • Select “Create an Account”
  • Enter your name, account number, and email address
  • Choose a password and select a secret question/answer
  • Click “Create Account”

Once your account is created you can log in anytime and click the “Make Payment” button to pay your current bill. MyAccount accepts Visa MasterCard, Discover, American Express, and debit cards.

You can also pay using the MyMeter Utilities mobile app on your smartphone. Simply download the app from the App Store or Google Play, select Shawano Municipal Utilities as your utility, and log in or create an account. The app allows you to easily pay your bill on-the-go.

Paying online is fast, simple, and secure. You get instant confirmation that your payment has been made, and you can set up automatic payments to ensure your bill is paid on time every month.

Paying by Phone

If you prefer to speak to a real person to process your payment, Shawano Municipal Utilities offers a toll-free automated phone payment system. To pay by phone, simply call 855-748-3078 and have your account number and bill amount ready.

The automated system will guide you through the process step-by-step. You can pay using a Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, or debit card. At the end of the call, you’ll receive a confirmation number for your records.

Paying by phone is convenient if you are on-the-go or don’t have access to the internet. However, it does involve a small convenience fee of $2.50 per transaction.

Automatic Bank Withdrawals

One of the easiest ways to ensure your bill gets paid on time every month is to enroll in automatic withdrawals from your bank account.

To sign up, you can complete the authorization form online through your MyAccount portal. Or you can download the ACH authorization form from the Shawano Municipal Utilities website, print it out, fill it in, and mail it to:

Shawano Municipal Utilities
PO Box 436
Shawano, WI 54166

The form allows you to specify the checking or savings account you want payments withdrawn from. On the monthly due date, Shawano Municipal Utilities will automatically debit your account for the amount due.

The advantages of auto-pay include:

  • Avoid late or missed payments
  • No need to manually make payments each month
  • No checks to write or stamps for mailing
  • Payments processed securely and directly from your bank account

You’ll continue to receive a monthly statement detailing the amount to be withdrawn. If you need to update your account information, simply submit a new authorization form.

Paying by Mail

If you prefer to mail in a traditional paper check or money order, Shawano Municipal Utilities accepts payments by mail.

To pay by mail:

  • Write your check or money order payable to Shawano Municipal Utilities
  • Include the remittance stub from the bottom of your bill to ensure proper crediting
  • Mail to:

Shawano Municipal Utilities
PO Box 436
Shawano, WI 54166

Be sure to allow 3-5 business days for your mailed payment to reach the utility and be processed to avoid late fees. Paying by mail involves postage costs and the risk of getting lost or delayed. But it can be a good option if you don’t have internet access or prefer not to pay electronically.

Meter Reading & Billing

Similar to reading your electric meter, Shawano Utilities crew members collect usage data from your water meter with an automatic meter reading (AMR) device. Our data collection devices read your meter from a distance and store that information in a format that is then downloaded into our billing software to help produce your monthly billing statement.

In some cases or during certain times of year, our collection devices are not able to communicate with your meter to deliver consumption data. In that event, we provide you with an estimated billing statement, based on your normal usage history for that time of year. Any difference between the amount actually used and the estimated amount billed is corrected automatically when the next regular meter reading is obtained. Ultimately, you pay only for the amount of water actually used.
