How To Easily Pay Your Toho Water Authority Bill Online

As a homeowner and resident in the Toho Water Authority service area, paying my monthly water bill is a regular task However, thanks to the convenient online payment options offered by Toho, it doesn’t have to be a chore.

In this blog post, I’ll share my experiences and tips for easily paying your Toho Water Authority bill online after being a customer for over 7 years.

Why Pay Online?

Paying your Toho water bill online through their website has several big advantages:

  • It’s fast – takes just a couple minutes to log in and pay each month. No mailing in checks or driving to an office.

  • Flexible payment options – pay as a one-time guest or set up an account for recurring payments.

  • Available anytime – their website works 24/7 so you can pay at your convenience.

  • Payment history – your online account stores past bills and payments for easy reference.

  • Paperless billing – reduce waste by opting for online eBills.

  • Automatic payments – schedule recurring payments to avoid late fees.

For me, the speed and convenience of paying online is worth it to avoid the hassle of paper bills and checks.

How To Pay As A Guest

If you just need to make a one-time payment, Toho allows guests to pay bills online without an account. Here’s how it works:

  1. Go to the Toho website and click on “Pay My Bill”.

  2. Select the “Pay as Guest” option.

  3. Enter your 12-digit account number and the service address zip code.

  4. Enter your payment info and submit.

It’s quick and easy! Just have your account number handy (printed on your paper bill). The payment will post instantly.

The only downside to guest payments is you’ll be charged a $2.95 convenience fee per transaction.

Setting Up An Online Account

To avoid paying convenience fees each month, I definitely recommend setting up an online account with Toho. It takes just a few minutes to sign up and provides some nice perks:

  • Store payment methods for faster checkout

  • View previous billing history and payment confirmations

  • Access online usage graphs and water consumption stats

  • Receive notifications for high usage alerts

  • Go paperless by enrolling in eBills

  • Set up automatic recurring payments

To set up a Toho online account:

  1. Click “Create an Account” on their bill pay website.

  2. Enter your account number, email, and create a password.

  3. Provide contact info and verify your identity.

Once your account is created, you can easily log in anytime and pay your bill with stored payment methods. No fees!

I love the convenience of automatic payments directly from my bank account each month. It gives me peace of mind knowing my water bill is always paid on time.

Payment Options Overview

When logging into your Toho online account, you’ll see several payment options:

  • Credit/debit card – Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express

  • E-check – directly from checking or savings account

  • Cash payments – take cash to authorized payment locations

  • Mail-in check – send check to Toho PO box

Cards and e-checks process instantly online. Mailed checks take 7-10 days to post so mail early to avoid late fees.

I prefer the e-check option since it’s free and links directly to my bank account. Credit card payments incur a 2.85% processing fee.

Auto-Pay & eBills For Paperless Billing

My favorite bill pay settings are the auto-pay and eBill options. These allow me to go 100% paperless.

With auto-pay enabled, my Toho bill is paid automatically each month on the due date directly from my bank account. I don’t have to do anything once it’s set up!

eBills means I receive my monthly statement electronically rather than by mail. This prevents wasted paper and saves trees 🙂

Activating these options is easy within your online account dashboard. I no longer have to think about paying bills – it just happens automatically now!

Don’t Get Fooled By Third Party Sites

One important tip when paying your Toho water bill online – make sure you only use Toho’s official website at www.tohowater.com.

Several unofficial third party sites like CheckFreePay and Doxo come up in search results. But Toho warns customers these sites are NOT affiliated with or endorsed by them in any way.

Using third party services often results in delayed payments, late fees, and other headaches. Stick with Toho’s real website for reliable on-time processing.

Avoid Late Fees With Payment Extensions

If you need a little extra time to pay your water bill, Toho does offer payment extensions. These provide an extra 10 days past your due date before late fees are charged.

To request a payment extension, you can either:

  • Submit an online request form on their website
  • Call 407-944-5000 to speak with a rep

Just note that extensions are limited to 2 per year. And you must request it before your current bill’s due date.

Payment extensions are great if you’re in a temporary financial bind or waiting on payday. Just be sure to pay the bill in full within the 10 day extension period.

Get Payment Assistance With TAP Program

For those facing longer-term financial hardship, Toho offers a TAP assistance program to help pay water bills.

TAP provides a credit on your monthly bill based on your household income level and number of occupants. Discounts range from $6 to $27 per month.

To qualify, you must meet income limits and provide documents verifying household income. Assistance is available for both homeowner and renter accounts.

Visit the Toho website for full TAP program guidelines and an online application. Getting extra help with your water bill takes just a few minutes.

Ways To Avoid High Water Bills

While Toho’s rates are quite reasonable, you can take steps to avoid getting stuck with a high water bill:

  • Fix any leaky faucets or running toilets wasting water. A small leak can waste hundreds of gallons per month.

  • Replace old plumbing fixtures and showerheads with water-efficient models.

  • Only run dishwashers and laundry machines with full loads.

  • Don’t overwater lawns. Adjust sprinklers based on weather and landscape needs.

  • Track water usage via your online account to identify spikes.

  • Consider installing a smart irrigation controller to save outdoor water.

With a few adjustments, you can reduce wasted water and keep your monthly bills under control.
