As a patient of Tulane University Medical Group paying your medical bills is a key part of receiving care at their renowned healthcare facilities. Read on for pro tips to master medical bill payment with Tulane.

Pay Instantly Online Through the Patient Portal

The fastest, most convenient way to pay a Tulane medical bill is through their online patient portal called MyHealthOne. You can make one-time payments or set up recurring auto-payments from your bank account.

Here’s how to pay online

  • Go to the MyHealthOne website or Tulane patient portal.
  • Log into your secure patient account.
  • Select “Make a Payment” and enter your payment details.
  • Confirm your bank account info and submit.

Online bill payment is free, instant, and available 24/7. I recommend setting up recurring auto-pay for hands-free medical bill management.

Use the Tulane Health Mobile App

Tulane offers a mobile app allowing you to easily pay medical bills on your smartphone or tablet. To use it:

  • Download the Tulane Health app and log in.
  • Tap on “Billing” in the menu.
  • Select your account and follow prompts to pay.

The Tulane Health app makes bill payment quick and convenient on the go. Just note a third-party fee applies to credit card transactions.

Pay Over the Phone

Tulane has an automated phone payment system you can call 24/7 to pay medical bills. To use it:

  • Call the toll-free billing line: 844-889-2547.
  • Follow voice prompts to enter your account number and payment details.
  • Confirm the payment info and the transaction will be processed.

Phone payment is super quick when you’re short on time. But note credit card fees apply, while bank payments are free.

Mail a Check or Money Order

To pay the old-fashioned way, you can mail medical payments to Tulane’s centralized billing office:

  • Make checks payable to “Tulane Medical Group”.
  • Include your account number on the check.
  • Mail to P.O. Box 61583 New Orleans, LA 70161-1583.

Allow 5 business days for mailed payments to avoid late fees. Just know this route takes more time and planning.

Pay In-Person at Hospital Billing Offices

To pay your Tulane medical bills face-to-face, visit the billing office at their hospitals. In-person payments are accepted:

  • Monday-Friday from 8am-5pm at the billing windows.
  • In the after-hours drop boxes available at some locations.

Tulane accepts cash, checks, and credit/debit cards. Visit their website to find hospital billing office hours and locations.

Enroll in Recurring Auto-Pay

For ultimate bill payment convenience, enroll in auto-pay through Tulane’s MyHealthOne patient portal. This automatically pays your medical bills from your bank account on the due date.

To start auto-pay:

  • Log into MyHealthOne and access your account settings.
  • Select the auto-pay option and enter your payment details.
  • Confirm your bank account information.

Once set up, auto-pay takes care of your Tulane medical bills hassle-free each month. No more remembering due dates or mailing checks!

Receive Bill Reminders and Due Date Alerts

To help avoid late fees, Tulane can send you bill due reminders by email and text message.

To set up reminders:

  • Go to your MyHealthOne account settings.
  • Opt in to receive billing reminders via text and/or email.

Automatic reminders give you peace of mind and help ensure on-time payment. I highly recommend signing up for this free service.

Ask About Payment Plan Options

If you need help managing large medical bills, ask Tulane about establishing a monthly payment plan. Based on your financial situation, they may approve interest-free installment plans to make balances more affordable.

To inquire about payment plans:

  • Call the billing office: 844-889-2547
  • Email: [email protected]
  • Visit a billing window at their hospitals

Payment plans provide flexibility if you can’t pay large balances upfront. Be sure to reach out in advance of due dates to avoid late fees.

Use Available Financial Assistance Programs

Tulane offers financial assistance programs providing discounted or free care if you qualify based on income, expenses, and medical circumstances.

To learn more and apply:

  • Call a Patient Access Representative at 504-988-5263.
  • Visit Tulane hospital billing offices in person.
  • Download financial assistance applications from their website.

If approved, financial assistance can significantly reduce or eliminate what you owe for eligible Tulane medical services. Ask about these options if you’re undergoing financial hardship.

Tips for Stress-Free Medical Bill Management

Here are my top tips for smoothly handling Tulane medical bills:

  • Go paperless with e-bills to avoid missed notices.
  • Sign up for auto-pay to set bill payment on autopilot.
  • Use the mobile app for easy on-the-go payments.

Financial Assistance with respect to emergency and medically necessary care may be available to patients who do not qualify for state or federal assistance.

LCMC Healths policy provides a 100% discount if the patient or guarantor has an income less than 200% of Federal Poverty Limit (FPL) guidelines. These guidelines are based on both income and family size and are subject to income verification/documentation. Our expanded charity policy will provide additional relief to uninsured and underinsured patients that receive emergent, non-elective services, with balances greater than $1500, and whose income is between 200% and 400% of FPL guidelines. Patients with incomes between 201-300% of the FPL will have their balance capped at 3% of their income, or the remaining balance after the uninsured discount is applied, whichever is less. Patients with incomes between 301%-400% of the FPL, balances will be capped at 4% of their income, or the remaining balance after the uninsured discount is applied, whichever is less. In certain cases, other discounts ranging from 40-90% may apply if the patient’s total household income exceeds these thresholds. The expanded policy will continue to meet or exceed any specific state or local charity or indigent discount requirements.

Tulane Health System requires the completion of the Tulane Health System Financial Assistance Application. Further eligibility and assistance information, a copy of our financial assistance policy, the financial assistance application form and a plain language summary of the financial assistance policy (in English, Spanish, and Vietnamese) are available by written request to the following address: Patient Account Services, 95 Judge Tanner Blvd. Covington LA 70433; or by calling the facility telephone number listed in Financial Assistance Policy. Patients can also download a copy of our financial assistance policy and the financial assistance application form below. Please take notice that if you do not submit a financial assistance application within 120 days from the date of the initial billing statement then the hospital facility (or other authorized party) may take certain actions against you in order to obtain payment of the bill including, but not limited to, reporting adverse information about the debt you owe to the hospital facility to credit reporting agencies or credit bureaus, and/or filing a civil lawsuit in order to obtain a judgement against you for the amount that you owe to the hospital facility.
