How to Pay Your Georgia Power Bill Quickly and Easily

As a Georgia Power customer for over 10 years, I’ve tried all the different payment options available and wanted to share my experiences to help others. Paying your utility bill on time every month is essential, so I’ll explain the easiest and fastest ways to pay that Georgia Power bill.

Overview of Payment Options

Georgia Power offers convenient online, electronic, phone, and mail payment options. I prefer paying online through their website or mobile app – it’s fast, secure, and lets you store payment info for next time.

However, they understand not everyone can pay digitally. Georgia Power still supports old-school routes like paying by phone, mailing a check, or visiting an authorized payment location in person.

Below I’ll outline the major ways to pay and highlight the fastest methods.

Paying Your Bill Online

Paying at www.georgiapower.com is by far my top recommendation. You can pay as a guest without an account, but I suggest creating an online account to store your payment information for easier auto-pay setup.

Here are the steps to pay online with an account:

  1. Go to www.georgiapower.com and click “My Account” then “Pay Bill”
  2. Log in to your account
  3. Select a payment amount and method. Options are:
    • Checking/savings account (free)
    • Credit or debit card (convenience fees apply)
    • Digital wallet like Apple Pay or Google Pay
  4. Enter your details and submit payment
  5. Confirmation page displays immediately

Without an account, you’ll need your Georgia Power account number and 4-digit verification code from your latest bill.

I like scheduling recurring payments through my account so I never forget. You can also enroll in paperless billing and go green!

Paying via the Georgia Power Mobile App

The Georgia Power app allows the same quick payments as the website. I love the convenience of paying on my phone anytime, anywhere.

Download the app for iPhone or Android, log into your account, and tap the “Pay Bill” button. The rest is the same process as paying on the website.

The app also lets you report outages, view usage, and access your account on the go I definitely recommend downloading it!

Paying by Phone

To pay your bill via phone call 1-888-660-5890 which is available 24/7. You’ll need to enter your Georgia Power account number and authenticate with the last 4 digits of your Social Security number.

Then, choose whether to pay by:

  • Checking/savings account – Enter your routing and account number
  • Credit/debit card – Transfers you to a third-party processor that charges a fee

You can also opt to store your payment info to simplify future calls. I always choose the checking account option since it’s free.

Just note that paying by phone takes more time than online. Expect to set aside about 10-15 minutes for the automated system

Paying by Mail

If you prefer to mail a traditional check or money order, here is where to send it:

Georgia Power Payments
96 Annex
Atlanta, GA 30396

Don’t forget to include your 16-digit Georgia Power account number on the check or an attached payment stub.

Mailed payments can take 3-5 business days to process, so make sure to send them 1 week before your due date. I only recommend mailing if you don’t have online access.

Paying In Person

Georgia Power has authorized payment locations at places like Kroger, Walmart, and Dollar General stores. You can pay your bill with cash or card at any of these spots just like a regular purchase.

Visit the Georgia Power website and enter your zip code to find payment locations nearby. Many are open late and on weekends for convenience!

Just keep in mind that in-person payments take more time and effort than digital payments. I only use this option if I need to pay cash.

Avoid Late Fees and Keep the Power On!

I hope these bill payment tips help you avoid late fees and keep your electricity flowing. Setting up recurring payments through the Georgia Power website or app provides peace of mind.

Remember, if you’re ever struggling to pay your bill, Georgia Power offers payment plans and assistance programs. Reach out to them for help getting back on track. Having reliable power in your home or business is too important!
