How to Pay Your City of West Palm Beach Water Bill Online

Paying your water bill in West Palm Beach is easy thanks to the city’s online payment system. I recently set up an account to start paying my water bill online, so in this article I’ll walk you through the steps to pay your West Palm Beach water bill online.

Setting Up Your Online Account

The first step is to set up an online account on the City of West Palm Beach website You’ll need to have your account number handy, which you can find printed on your monthly paper bill.

It’s easy to pay your water bill online once you have your account number. This will take you to the page where you can log in to the online payment system. If you’ve never used the site before, click on “New Users” and fill out your account information. Make sure to choose a secure username and password you’ll remember.

The system will send a confirmation code to your email address after you enter your information to make sure you are who you say you are. Enter this code to complete your registration. That’s it – your online account is now active!.

Logging In to View Your Bill

Now that your account is set up you can log in anytime to view your water bill online. Just go back to the online payment website and enter your username and password.

Once logged in, you’ll see your current balance owed and payment due date. You can also view PDF copies of your most recent bills. It’s really useful being able to pull up old bills to compare your usage over time.

Making a One-Time Payment

To make a one-time payment click on the “Make Payment” link at the top of the page after logging in. This will take you to a secure payment processing page.

You can choose to pay by e-check, credit card, or debit card. There is no fee for e-check payments, which I recommend using if possible to avoid incurring a credit card processing fee.

Enter your payment details including the payment amount and submit. The online system will immediately process your payment and you’ll receive a confirmation email with your payment details. It’s that quick and easy!

Setting Up Auto-Pay

While the one-time payment option works great, I highly recommend setting up automatic monthly payments. This way you don’t have to worry about missing a payment or paying late fees.

To set up auto-pay, click on the “Auto Pay” link at the top of the dashboard after logging in. Choose whether you want payments to be made by credit card or e-check. Then select the date you want monthly payments to be processed automatically.

That’s all there is to it! The payments will now happen automatically each month. Just make sure you have enough funds in your linked account to cover the water bill charges.

Monitoring Your Water Usage

Another neat feature of the online account system is that you can monitor your monthly water usage. Click on the “Consumption History” link to see your usage for the past two years in gallons or CCFs (hundred cubic feet).

I like using this feature to track any spikes or drops in my usage. For example, monitoring helped me catch that I had a toilet leak once when usage suddenly jumped up for no reason. Keeping an eye on your usage can help detect any leaks early.

Updating Billing and Account Details

Within your online account you can also update important billing details like your mailing address for bills, phone number, email address, and stored payment methods. To update, just click your name in the top right corner and choose “Update Account Details.”

This ensures any changes to your contact information or payment details are immediately updated with the City for your water account.

Getting Help Paying Your Bill

If you are having trouble paying your water bill, West Palm Beach does offer assistance programs for qualifying low-income households. These programs can help by reducing your monthly bill amount or setting up payment plans.

To find out if you qualify for a payment assistance program, contact the West Palm Beach Public Utilities department at 561-822-2222. They can go over the requirements and application process to receive help with your bill.

Avoid Late Fees and Disconnection

I want to emphasize the importance of paying your West Palm Beach water bill on time to avoid penalties. If your payment is late, you’ll incur a late fee of 1.5% of the overdue amount.

If your account becomes severely delinquent, over 60 days past due, the city can shut off your water service. You’ll then have to pay a reconnection fee on top of the past due amount to resume service. Clearly, you want to avoid getting into that situation if at all possible!

Paying on the city website makes it easy to see your balance and due date. Just be sure to log in regularly and stay on top of your bill to prevent fees or disconnection.
