Whether you prefer to pay online, over the phone, in person, by mail or even pay at a kiosk, we’ve got you covered!
In this article, I’ll walk through the 8 different ways EECA members can pay their electric bill each month I’ll provide details on how each payment method works along with the key benefits Read on to learn about all your bill payment options and choose the one that fits your lifestyle best!
1. Pay Online
The fastest and most convenient way to pay your EECA electric bill is online, We offer online bill pay through our website in two ways – Pay Now portal and SmartHub
The Pay Now portal allows you to quickly make a one-time payment on your account. Just visit eeca.coop and click on the Pay Now button. You can pay by debit/credit card or checking account.
For recurring payments and more account management options, use our SmartHub online portal. With SmartHub, you can:

To get started with SmartHub, simply visit eeca.coop/smarthub and register your account. Then you can download the free SmartHub mobile app to manage your account on-the-go. Paying online with SmartHub allows you to easily track payment history and energy use trends over time.
2. Pay by Phone
Another convenient option is to pay your EECA bill over the phone in just a few quick steps.
Call (844) 759-3977 anytime to use our secure automated phone payment system. This system is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and accepts Visa, Mastercard, Discover cards, and E-check payments.
You can also call our customer service team at (800) 606-1505 during normal business hours to pay by check over the phone. For added security against fraud, we no longer accept credit/debit payments over the phone through a live representative. But our automated system is still available 24/7 for quick credit/debit card payments.
3. Automatic Bank Draft
For ultimate bill-paying convenience, sign up for automatic monthly bank draft through EECA. This allows us to automatically withdraw your monthly electric bill payment from your chosen checking account or credit card on the due date.
To enroll, register for SmartHub online and complete the Auto Pay enrollment process. Or you can download our Automatic Bank Draft form from our website and mail it in. Setting up automatic payments ensures your bill gets paid on time each month without the hassle of remembering.
4. Pay at a Kiosk
We also offer easy electric bill payment at kiosk locations across our service area. Here are the kiosk options available:
- Onsite kiosk at our Murphysboro office – accepts cash, checks, and credit/debit payments
- Cash-only kiosks at MarketPlace Shell in Carbondale and Neighborhood Co-op Grocery in Murphysboro
- No fees for using our kiosks to pay your EECA bill!
The kiosks are quick and convenient for when you’re short on time or prefer paying in-person. Located outdoors and available 24/7, our onsite kiosk lets you pay anytime day or night.
5. PrePay
If you prefer to pay-as-you-go, check out EECA’s PrePay program. With PrePay billing, you add money to your account in advance and then use electricity until the credit runs out. It’s an easy way to pay for energy as you use it and avoid monthly bills.
Sign up for PrePay by calling our office at (800) 606-1505. Once enrolled, you can make PrePay payments by cash or card anytime at our onsite payment kiosk. PrePay helps you budget electricity costs and gives you more control over your energy spending.
6. Pay by Mail
Sending your payment by mail is still an option if you prefer paying with a physical check. EECA provides a payment stub along with your monthly paper bill that you can return by mail with your check.
Just detach the stub and enclose it with your check in the return envelope provided. For fastest processing, please mail your payment at least 7-10 days before the due date printed on your statement. This allows sufficient time for delivery by the due date.
7. Pay In-Person
To make an in-person bill payment, stop by our Murphysboro headquarters office during regular business hours, Monday-Friday from 8am-4pm. Our customer service team will be happy to accept your EECA electric bill payment by cash, check, money order, or credit/debit card.
An after-hours drop box is also available outside our office, next to the drive-thru window and payment kiosk. Payments left in the drop box will be collected and processed the next business day.
8. Third-Party Payment Networks
In addition to our own payment options, EECA electric bills can be paid at thousands of retail locations across the country through third-party payment networks like MoneyGram and Vanilla Direct.
To use these networks, take your EECA account number and billing info to a participating retailer like CVS, Walmart, Dollar General, Walgreens, and many more. Pay your bill at the customer service desk or register for around a $1.50 convenience fee per transaction.
This gives you even more flexibility to pay in cash when it’s convenient for you. Just visit MoneyGram.com or Pay.VanillaDirect.com to find payment locations near you.
