If you’re a Middle Tennessee Natural Gas (MTNG) customer you have several options to pay your gas bill conveniently. MTNG offers online bill pay, bank draft, phone payments, and in-person payments to fit different needs.
I’ll outline the pros and cons of each payment method MTNG provides I’ll also share tips to avoid fees and keep your gas bill as low as possible.
Ready to learn the easiest ways to pay your MTNG gas bill? Let’s dive in!
Online Bill Pay Through The MTNG Customer Portal
The MTNG Customer Portal allows you to:
- View your account details and billing history
- Make one-time payments
- Set up autopay
To start, you’ll need to enroll in the portal through MTNG’s website. Click “MTNG Customer Portal” at the top and follow the instructions.
Once enrolled, you can log into your account anytime to pay your bill online. You can use a credit card, debit card, or electronic check.
However, be aware that online payments now incur transaction fees:
- Credit/debit card payments: 2.4% fee
- eCheck payments: $1.95 flat fee
So online bill pay offers convenience, but at a cost. Using your bank account instead of credit/debit card reduces the percentage fee.
I recommend online bill pay for infrequent payments. For regular monthly bills, other options will save you more over time.
Bank Draft For Fee-Free Payments
For the most savings, go paperless with MTNG’s Bank Draft program. This automatically deducts your gas bill from your checking account each month.
The major benefit of Bank Draft is avoiding all transaction fees. It’s a free way to pay on time without hassle.
To start, print and fill out the Bank Draft form from MTNG’s website. Mail it with a voided check to the address provided.
The main drawback of bank drafts is less payment flexibility. If you need to adjust the deduction amount, you’ll need to contact MTNG a few days before your bill’s due date.
But for most customers paying regular monthly bills, Bank Draft offers the best bang for your buck.
Pay By Phone
You can pay your MTNG gas bill over the phone by calling 1-866-351-3056. The automated system is available 24/7.
Like online payments, phone payments incur transaction fees:
- Credit/debit card payments: 2.4% fee
- Electronic checks: $1.95 flat fee
So paying by phone with your checking account will be cheapest. But phone payments take more time than logging into your online account.
I would reserve phone bill pay only for times you can’t easily access the online portal. For routine payments, better options exist.
Pay In Person
For cash payments or dealing with staff directly, you can pay your MTNG bill in person at one of their office locations:
-
Madison – 1609 Oakbrook Dr., Madison, TN 37115
-
Springfield – 1112 Springfield Hwy., Springfield, TN 37172
-
White House – 3826 Hwy 31W, White House, TN 37188
-
Goodlettsville – 400 Cartwright St., Goodlettsville, TN 37072
In-person payments avoid transaction fees. But you lose the convenience of paying anytime from home.
Heading to an MTNG office makes the most sense if you prefer paying cash or have questions that are easiest addressed face-to-face.
