Making Bill Payments Easy with Powell Valley Electric

Paying your monthly electric bill is a necessity, but it doesn’t have to be a chore Powell Valley Electric offers a variety of convenient payment options to fit any lifestyle As a Powell Valley Electric customer myself, I’m going to walk through the various ways you can pay your electric bill and highlight the options that I’ve found to be the most easy and efficient.

Online Bill Pay

The quickest and easiest way to pay your Powell Valley Electric bill is online through their website. You can either login to your account or pay as a guest. The online payment portal is available 24/7, so you can pay on your schedule.

To start just go to billing.pve.coop and click on “Payments” and then “Make a Payment.” If you already have a username you can simply login. If not, you’ll need to create an account, which only takes a minute.

Once logged in, you can view your current bill, see your payment history, and make a payment. You can pay using a checking account, savings account, or credit card. Payments made online are posted the same day, so you don’t have to worry about your payment getting lost in the mail.

The online payment system also allows you to setup recurring payments so your bill gets paid automatically each month No more late fees or forgotten payments! I love the convenience of having my bill paid through automatic monthly bank drafts

One tip is that if you pay online through your bank’s bill pay system instead of directly through Powell Valley Electric’s website, it can take 5-7 days for the payment to reach them and be applied to your account. So paying directly on their site is the fastest option.

Pay By Phone

If you prefer to speak to someone directly, you can also pay your Powell Valley Electric bill over the phone. Just call 423-626-5204 and select the billing option.

You can use a credit card, debit card, or electronic check to pay over the phone. There is a 2. 45% convenience fee for credit card payments to cover processing costs. But if you pay your bill over the phone, you don’t have to leave your house.

Payments made by phone are processed the same day, so there are no wait times. The team is available to assist Monday to Friday from 8AM to 4:30PM. If you call them, they’ll walk you through the easy payment process.

Pay By Mail

For those who prefer paper bills and payments, you can always mail in a check or money order payable to Powell Valley Electric Cooperative.

Just send your payment to:

Powell Valley Electric Cooperative
PO Box 308
Jonesville, VA 24263

Be sure to allow 5-7 business days for your mailed payment to reach them and be applied to your account to avoid any late fees. I’d suggest mailing your payment at least 7-10 days before the due date just to be safe.

While paying by mail is more time consuming than electronic payments, it’s still a simple option for those not comfortable with online billing.

Pay in Person

You can also pay your Powell Valley Electric bill in person at one of their local offices:

  • New Tazewell Office: 420 Straight Creek Rd, New Tazewell, TN 37825

  • Jonesville Office: 331 Church St, Jonesville, VA 24263

Their offices are open Monday to Friday from 8AM to 4:30PM. When paying in person, you can pay with cash, check, money order, or credit/debit card. Just be sure to bring your paper bill with you.

Paying in person gives you the ability to talk through any account or billing questions face-to-face with their customer service team. But be aware that in-person payments are only accepted during business hours.

Pay at an Authorized Payment Location

For even more flexibility, Powell Valley Electric allows you to pay your electric bill at a number of authorized payment locations in the community. These are local banks and financial institutions that have partnered with Powell Valley Electric to accept payments.

Some of the authorized bill pay locations include:

  • First Century Bank (multiple locations)
  • Commercial Bank (multiple locations)

Paying at an authorized dealer gives you the flexibility to combine your electric bill payment with your other banking errands and bills.

Sign Up for Recurring Auto-Pay

To make paying your bill even easier, I highly recommend setting up automatic monthly payments through Powell Valley Electric’s online payment system.

With auto-pay, the amount due is automatically drafted from your bank account or charged to your credit card on the due date each month. This ensures your payment is always on time, gives you one less bill to remember, and avoids any late payment fees.

Setting up recurring auto-pay payments only takes a minute through the online payment portal. Just check the box for auto-pay when making a payment and enter your payment information. The peace of mind of having your electric bill paid on time automatically each month is well worth the 60 seconds it takes to setup.
