Paying your monthly electric bill to Verdigris Valley Electric Cooperative (VVEC) is easy and convenient with several options available. As a VVEC customer myself, I’ve tried all the different payment methods and wanted to share my experiences to help other customers know the ins and outs of paying your VVEC electric bill.
Online Bill Pay with SmartHub
The easiest and most modern way to pay your VVEC electric bill is through SmartHub, their online and mobile app payment portal.
What is SmartHub?
SmartHub is an online account management system created specifically for utility cooperatives like VVEC. It allows customers to easily monitor their energy use, contact customer service, report outages, and most importantly, pay their bill online.
The SmartHub app is available for both iOS and Android mobile devices, or you can access it from your desktop at vvvec.smarthub.coop.
Why Pay with SmartHub?
I love using SmartHub to pay my VVEC electric bill for several reasons:
-
It’s fast – With just a few taps I can login, review my bill, and submit payment by credit card or bank account in under a minute.
-
Secure payment – SmartHub uses industry-standard encryption to keep your payment information safe and secure
-
Review usage – I can see my daily electric usage to understand my habits. This helps me reduce any unnecessary power draws.
-
Paperless billing – Going paperless through SmartHub helps the environment and removes clutter from my mailbox
-
Payment reminders – SmartHub can send you email or text alerts when your bill is due so you never forget.
-
24/7 access – I can pay my bill anytime from my phone rather than having to wait until VVEC’s office is open.
The app also lets me report outages, contact customer service, and get VVEC announcements. Overall SmartHub provides the most convenient experience for managing my electric account.
How to Pay with SmartHub
Paying your VVEC bill through SmartHub is very straightforward:
-
Download the SmartHub app or go to vvvec.smarthub.coop.
-
Login with your account number and password.
-
Select “Pay Now” and choose the account you want to pay.
-
Enter the payment amount and submit your payment method.
-
The payment will process immediately and you’ll receive a confirmation email.
It only takes about a minute to complete the payment process. The first time you use SmartHub you’ll have to go through a quick registration, but subsequent logins are a breeze.
Overall I find SmartHub to be the fastest and most convenient way to pay my monthly VVEC electric bill. The app provides a great user experience and gives me insight into my home’s energy use. I highly recommend all VVEC customers setup SmartHub to simplify bill payment and account management.
Pay by Phone
If you prefer to speak to a live representative, VVEC offers several bill pay by phone options:
Pay by Phone through VVEC
You can call the VVEC office at (918) 371-2584 and make a payment over the phone with one of their customer service agents. They accept payments by credit/debit card, check, or cash if you visit the office in-person.
This is a fine option, but sometimes their call center has long wait times. I only recommend it if you need to discuss your account details with an agent. For quick bill payments, the other options are faster.
Pay by Phone through U.S. Payments
VVEC has partnered with U.S. Payments to offer bill pay over an automated phone system. To use it:
-
Call 1-866-780-5458
-
Select option 4 for VVEC payments
-
Enter your 10-digit VVEC account number
-
Select your payment method and amount
-
Enter your payment details
-
Receive a confirmation number
This automated number is available 24/7 so you can pay your bill whenever it’s convenient. The downside is U.S. Payments charges a $3.95 convenience fee for credit/debit card payments.
Overall this is a quick option for phone-based payments without having to wait on hold. But the convenience fees add up, so I prefer SmartHub.
Pay by Mail
If you prefer slower, more traditional bill payment, you can mail a check or money order to:
VVECPO Box 219Collinsville, OK 74021
Just fill out the payment stub from your paper bill and include it in the envelope with your payment.
I used to pay by mail until I switched to paperless billing and automated payments through SmartHub. But mailing a check is still a reliable option if you’re old school. Allow 5-7 days for your mailed payment to reach VVEC and be processed.
One downside is you don’t have payment confirmation until your next bill. I like getting instant confirmation with the online and phone payment options.
In-Person Bill Pay
VVEC has a few options for paying your bill in-person:
Pay at the VVEC Office
You can stop by the VVEC headquarters in Collinsville during business hours (Mon-Fri 7:30am – 4:00pm) to make a payment. They accept cash, check, money order, and credit/debit cards.
The office is located at:
8901 E 146th St NCollinsville, OK 74021
Paying at the office gives you the chance to talk through any account issues with a customer service rep. But the drive is inconvenient compared to paying online or by phone from home.
Pay at a PaySiteTM Kiosk
VVEC has dozens of PaySiteTM payment kiosks located around their service area. These stand-alone kiosks allow you to pay your electric bill with cash, check or credit card.
To find a kiosk near you, use the PaySiteTM locator.
The kiosks are available 24/7 so you can pay on your schedule. But they charge around a $2 service fee, so I prefer the free SmartHub option.
Sign Up for Auto Pay
The easiest set-it-and-forget-it approach is enrolling in VVEC’s auto pay program. This automatically deducts your monthly electric bill from your bank account or charges it to your credit card.
You still receive a paper or emailed billing statement so you can review the charges. But on the due date the payment is automatically made so you don’t have to do anything.
To enroll in auto pay:
-
Login to SmartHub or call VVEC at (918) 371-2584
-
Select auto pay enrollment
-
Enter your payment method details
-
Confirm the terms and start auto pay
Now your VVEC electric bill will be paid on-time every month without any effort on your part. Just make sure the payment method you select has enough funds when your bill comes due.
The auto pay program provides great peace of mind. I don’t have to worry “did I remember to pay my electric bill?” because it’s done automatically through SmartHub each month.
Choose the Best Payment Option for You
Verdigris Valley Electric makes it easy to pay your utility bill through their website, mobile app, by phone, mail or in person. Choose the payment method that fits your needs and preferences.
I prefer the speed, security, and convenience of SmartHub. But you may like the familiarity of mailing a check or chatting with a customer service rep.
Hopefully this overview gives you a better understanding of how to pay your VVEC electric bill. Reach out to their team if you have any other questions about payment options or account management. And take control of your monthly payments with the solution that works for you!
