Convenient Payment Options For Western Cooperative Electric Customers

As a Western Cooperative Electric (WCE) customer who lives in rural Kansas, I know how hard it is to have to drive a long way just to pay a bill. But thankfully, WCE has many simple and quick ways to pay online, so you don’t have to waste time or money driving to the nearest pay station.

In this article, I’ll outline the various methods WCE provides for members like myself to quickly pay electric bills through the website or mobile apps. You’ll see why I love having flexible digital payment choices rather than having to rely on outdated payment methods like mailing checks or paying in person.

Streamlined Online Payments Through SmartHub

My favorite way to pay my WCE electric bill is through SmartHub their online account management portal and mobile app. Once I downloaded the SmartHub app and created an account, I gained instant visibility into my account details.

Through SmartHub, I can:

  • View current and past electric bills
  • Monitor my daily electric usage
  • Pay bills online in just a few taps
  • Set up autopay for recurring payments
  • Go paperless by opting for e-bills

I like going to SmartHub once a week to check on my electric use and make sure my bill payment for the month went through. I can find spikes and change my habits as needed by looking at the graphs and usage charts.

Paying through SmartHub takes seconds – I just enter my payment info and receive instant email confirmation when the transaction processes. It’s so much quicker than writing and mailing checks.

For WCE members like myself who value convenience, SmartHub is a game changer for easily managing our accounts digitally.

One-Time Payments Through Pay Now

When I need to pay my electric bill quickly and only once, WCE’s Pay Now portal is the best way to do it. I only need my account number and the amount I owe—no need to log in.

The Pay Now process takes just a minute or two:

  1. Go to westerncoop.smarthub.coop/PayNow.html
  2. Enter account number and amount owed
  3. Input payment details for debit/credit card or bank account
  4. Get confirmation email when transaction completes

While Pay Now only allows one-time payments, it’s useful for instances when I need to quickly log on and pay a bill but don’t necessarily need all the account management features of SmartHub.

Between Pay Now and SmartHub, WCE has made paying my bill online extremely quick and easy. No more writing checks!

Automatic Payments For Peace Of Mind

For ultimate convenience, I have my WCE electric bill set to autopay each month through SmartHub. This way, I never have to worry about missing payments or late fees.

WCE offers a few different autopay options:

  • Bank draft – payments automatically withdrawn from checking/savings on due date
  • Recurring credit card – card is charged monthly on chosen date
  • WCE debit card – acts as a prepaid account, reloaded to cover bills

With autopay in place, my electric bill effectively takes care of itself each month. But I can still view my usage and charges in SmartHub for monitoring. Autopay gives me peace of mind knowing my electric bill will always be paid on time.

Traditional Mail & In-Person For Maximum Flexibility

While I love the digital payment options, WCE does also continue to accept traditional payment methods for maximum flexibility:

  • Mail check/money order payments to: PO Box 278, WaKeeney, KS 67672
  • Pay in person at WCE offices in WaKeeney Monday-Friday
  • Use after-hours drop box in WaKeeney for check/cash payments

It’s reassuring to know that I can still use tried-and-true payment channels if needed. But the convenience of paying electronically can’t be beat!

No matter how you choose to pay your WCE electric bill, the co-op provides friendly, flexible options tailored to modern digital preferences. I’m thrilled with how easy bill payment has become for rural customers like myself thanks to their convenient online systems. Give SmartHub a try – I’m confident you’ll be impressed!
