The online system also allows you to view your payment history and billing statements. It’s a great way to monitor your water usage and charges each month.
Pay by Mail
If you prefer not to pay online, Highland also accepts bill payments by mail. You can mail your payment to:

Mailed payments take 5-7 business days to process so make sure to mail your payment at least one week before the due date to avoid late fees. I recommend mailing your payment at least 10-14 days early so you have plenty of time to account for mail delays.
The main downside to mailing payments is having to buy stamps each month. It also takes more effort to schedule a trip to the post office versus paying instantly online. But if you aren’t comfortable paying bills online, mailing in your payment is a fine option.
Pay In Person

The Highland office is open Tuesday through Friday from 8:30am to 4:00pm for in-person payments. You can pay by cash, check, money order or credit card when you visit the office.
If dropping by during business hours doesn’t work with your schedule, Highland has a 24/7 drop box where you can leave your payment anytime. Just enclose your bill stub along with a check or money order. Your payment will be processed the next business day.
I prefer paying online over dropping a payment at the office because it saves me time and gas money. But paying in person can be a good option if you want to talk to a Highland representative about your account or have questions about your bill.
Enroll in AutoPay
My personal favorite bill pay method is setting up automatic monthly payments through Highland’s AutoPay program. This withdraws your water/sewer payment directly from your bank account each month.
To enroll in AutoPay, complete the AutoPay form on the Highland website. You’ll need to provide your Highland account number, bank account number, and routing number. The form also allows you to select which day of the month you want the payment withdrawn.
Once AutoPay is set up, you don’t have to do anything going forward. Your payment will automatically be deducted from your account on the same day every month. It’s hassle-free, saves time, and ensures your bill is always paid on time.
The main catch with AutoPay is that you need to make sure there are sufficient funds in your bank account on the withdrawal date. If your account balance is too low, your payment could bounce and you may get charged overdraft fees by your bank. As long as you monitor your balance around the AutoPay date, it shouldn’t be an issue.
Avoid Late Fees
No matter which payment method you choose, the key is paying your Highland bill before the due date to avoid late fees. Highland charges a 10% penalty on overdue balances. This can add an unnecessary extra cost to your water and sewer charges each month.
Bills are due by the 20th of each month. I recommend paying your bill as soon as you receive it to give yourself plenty of buffer. If the due date falls on a weekend or holiday, your payment will be on time as long as it’s received by Highland on the next business day.
Review your monthly bill carefully and contact Highland immediately if you notice any discrepancies or have issues with high usage. It’s much easier to resolve billing errors before the payment due date.
