Prepay Program – My Power My Way

MLEC offers a flexible prepay program called My Power My Way. With prepay, you add money to your account balance before you use the electricity. It’s like putting minutes on a prepaid cell phone.

To enroll in prepay, you’ll make an initial minimum payment of $50. Once enrolled, your balance will decrement as you use electricity. When the balance gets low, you simply add more funds. It’s pay-as-you-go!

You can check your balance and add more funds through:

  • The My Power My Way website
  • MLECgo mobile app
  • Phone (call MLEC)
  • In person at any MLEC office

Prepay helps you budget your electricity costs and avoid large monthly bills. There’s no deposit or late fees. If your balance reaches zero, your power will be disconnected until you add more funds.

Pay by Mail

If you prefer, you can mail in a payment to MLEC’s main office:

Meriwether Lewis Electric Cooperative
ATTN: Cashiers
1625 Highway 100
Centerville, TN 37033

Mail a check or money order with your full account number written on the memo line. Allow 7-10 business days for mailed payments to reach MLEC and be applied to your account. To avoid late fees, mail your payment well before the due date.

One downside to mailing bills is you won’t have payment confirmation until your next statement. Paying online provides instant confirmation when funds are posted to your account.

Pay In Person

You can also pay your MLEC electric bill in person at one of two office locations:

Main Office
1625 Highway 100
Centerville, TN 37033

Columbia Office
303 Bear Creek Pike
Columbia, TN 38401

The offices accept cash, check, money order, and credit/debit cards. When paying in person, be sure to bring:

  • Photo ID
  • Your account number
  • Exact payment amount owed

In-person payment lets you get same-day receipt confirmation and talk to an MLEC representative about any account issues. However, you can only pay during office hours – Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 4:30 PM. The offices are closed on holidays.

Manage Automatic Bank Draft

For recurring automatic payments, enroll in MLEC’s bank draft program. This automatically pulls your electric bill amount from your checking or savings account each month.

To enroll, download the authorization form from MLEC’s website and submit it with a voided check. You can also set up bank draft payments in your online Account Overview.

With bank draft, you don’t have to remember to pay each month – it’s done automatically on the due date. You’ll still receive a monthly statement showing the amount drafted.

Avoid Late Fees and Disconnection

No matter which payment method you choose, be sure to pay your electric bill by the due date printed on your monthly statement. MLEC charges a 5% late fee on past due balances.

If your account becomes 60 days past due, you risk disconnection – MLEC could shut off your power until you pay the overdue amount. Avoid fees and disruption by paying on time using one of the convenient options above!

Get Payment Assistance if Needed

If you’re struggling to pay your MLEC electric bill, contact their office to ask about possible financial assistance programs or payment plans. Qualified low-income customers can receive help through:

  • Community Action Partnership utility assistance
  • LIHEAP energy bill grants
  • TANF emergency bill payment funds

Payment plans allow you to divide your balance into multiple smaller installments over time. MLEC wants to keep your lights on – they’ll work with you on a solution!
