Paying your utility bill on time each month is an important responsibility. For customers of Puget Sound Energy (PSE) in Washington state, there are multiple options for taking care of this essential task. While mailing in a check or setting up automatic payments are convenient choices sometimes you need to pay your PSE bill in person. In this article we’ll explore the various PSE bill pay locations available across their service region.
Overview of PSE
Puget Sound Energy is the largest electric and natural gas utility provider in Washington state. The company serves over 1.5 million electric customers and more than 860,000 natural gas customers across six counties Snohomish King Pierce, Lewis, Thurston, and Kitsap. As a regulated utility, PSE is focused on delivering safe, dependable, and efficient energy to homes and businesses across the Puget Sound region.
Part of providing great service is making bill payment easy and convenient. With that goal in mind, PSE offers various options for customers to pay their monthly bills. Let’s take a closer look at how and where you can pay your PSE bill in person if you choose.
Paying at Local PSE Customer Service Offices
One option for in-person payment is visiting a PSE customer service office. There are four PSE customer service offices located throughout their service region:
- Bellevue: Open M-F, 8 AM – 5 PM
- Bellingham: Open M-F, 9 AM – 5 PM
- Ellensburg: Open M-F, 9 AM – 5 PM
- Olympia: Open M-F, 9 AM – 5 PM
You can pay your bill, make payment plans, and take care of other account needs at any of these PSE customer service offices. You can pay your bills with cash, checks, money orders, and most major credit and debit cards. These are also places where you can start new service or end old service.
If there is a customer service center close to your home or place of work, it may be helpful, but keep in mind that wait times can change based on the number of calls. The offices are closed on weekends and holidays as well. So this payment method may work better for some customers than others.
Paying at Local Authorized Pay Stations
In addition to its customer service offices, PSE offers over 200 authorized pay stations located across their service territory. These are retail stores, banks, credit unions, and other businesses that collect PSE bill payments.
Some benefits of using local pay stations include:
- Extended hours – many are open evenings and weekends
- No wait times like at PSE offices
- Often closer to home than a customer service center
- Accept multiple payment types – cash, check, credit/debit
PSE offers a pay station locator on their website so you can find nearby options. You can search pay stations by city, ZIP code or address. The listings provide business hours, accepted payment methods, and other helpful details.
Top pay station chains to look for include:
-
Albertsons / Safeway / Haggen Grocery Stores – Over 50 grocery store locations accept PSE payments. Stores are open late and some are 24 hours. You can pay your PSE bill at the customer service counter along with other bills.
-
Walgreens – With 18 locations across PSE’s territory, Walgreens is another convenient pay station choice. Most stores are open until 9 or 10 pm daily.
-
Fred Meyer – There are over a dozen Fred Meyer stores on the pay station locator. The retailer is open late and payment can be made at any register.
-
7-Eleven – A handful of 7-Eleven convenience stores accept PSE payments. They are open 24 hours a day for added convenience.
-
Ace Hardware – Many independently owned Ace Hardware stores allow PSE bill payment. Store hours vary by location.
Searching PSE’s pay station map makes it easy to find a location near your home, job, or regular driving routes. Make sure to call ahead to confirm business hours and bill pay services if you are visiting a pay station for the first time.
Paying Your PSE Bill Online
While in-person payment options are convenient for some, paying your PSE bill online is typically the quickest and easiest method. PSE offers various ways to pay online:
-
My PSE Account – Register for an online account to receive paperless bills, check your balance, make one-time payments, set up auto-pay, and manage account details.
-
PSE Mobile App – Download the PSE app to your smartphone or tablet to pay on the go or manage your account remotely.
-
PSE Website – You can make secure credit/debit card or e-check payments without registering for an online account.
-
Phone Payment – Call PSE customer service anytime to pay your bill over the phone.
Online and phone payments process instantly, avoiding potential delays of mailing a check or visiting an in-person location. You also save stamps, gas money, and time. Up to three payment methods can be securely stored for convenient one-click payments each month. For many customers, online bill pay is the easiest option.
Payment Assistance Programs
If you are ever unable to pay your PSE bill in full, don’t avoid contacting the utility company. PSE understands financial hardships happen and offers payment assistance programs to qualifying customers, including:
-
Payment arrangements – Set up a plan to pay your outstanding balance over time.
-
Bill discount programs – Low-income customers can get 30-60% off their PSE bills.
-
Weatherization assistance – Get help lowering energy costs through home upgrades.
-
Financial assistance – Apply for grants to cover a past-due utility bill.

Payment options and information
Puget Sound Energy has provided energy throughout Washington for nearly 150 years. We’re proud to call the Northwest home and we’re even prouder to serve customers like you.
Serving you also means we must keep up with your changing needs. We recognize these needs and developed a robust set of online and mobile bill payment and customer service tools, as a way of making doing business with us simpler, quicker and easier. And as a result, fewer and fewer customers are using our customer service offices. Because of these changing needs, we’ve made the difficult decision to close our customer service offices in August 2019.
Although we’re closing some offices, we’re not closing the door on the communities we serve. We’ve always been, and will continue to be a local company, serving customers and investing in local communities.
